Peter’s Weekly Salmon Derby Rules and Regulations

  1. Peter’s Weekly Salmon Derby will commence on Monday September 1 and conclude on Sunday October 12, 2014 at 4:00 pm. 
  2. The minimum weights accepted are limited at 22lbs Salmon.
  3. The Derby boundaries are set to Lake Ontario, the lower Niagara River (below the falls), Port Dalhousie Harbor.
  4. All participants must abide by Ministry of Natural Resources regulations.
  5. Any fish with evidence of net, gaff or snag marks, of having been tampered with or artificially weighted, including ice or water, will immediately disqualify the participant. This will be conducted at the discretion of the Derby judges.
  6. Any attempt in any manner to falsify entries will result in prosecution and prize forfeiture.
  7. Ranking of all fish will be based upon the gross weight of the individual fish entered. In the event of a tie, the first fish weighed in will be placed ahead.
  8. When fishing from a boat, ALL OCCUPANTS of the boat must possess a valid individual Peter’s Salmon Weekly Derby Ticket.
  9. Every fish entered must have been caught by the participant entering such fish. Entrants may enter as many fish as they wish, subject to minimum weights. Underweight fish will be disqualified.
  10. Participants are welcome to weigh and enter a qualifying fish in more than one derby or tournament. However participants may not enter the same fish for a different week of Peter’s Weekly Salmon Derby if it has already been entered.
  11. All fish entered must be in good condition, with no deterioration or decomposition, for positive identification by the Derby judges.
  12. Peter’s Tackle will not be liable to or for the loss of property or for the injury to the person of any contestant or spectator. Participants agree to compete in this derby at their own risk.
  13. Each entrant, by paying the entry fee, acknowledges that he or she has read and understands the rules of the derby and agrees to abide by them. Thus they also agree that Peter’s tackle, its employees, and sponsors of this Derby are free from any and all liabilities, claims and costs of any nature whatsoever.
  14. Derby tickets must be purchased a minimum of one day prior to fishing each week, and entering a fish to be eligible for a prize. Each derby ticket will only be eligible for THAT participating week of the derby.
  15. All participants must produce their Derby ticket when weighing in the fish. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  16. Any and all disputes pertaining to the eligibility, acceptability, the weight of the fish or the interpretation and application of these rules shall be determined by the Derby judges whose decisions will be final and binding.
  17. All fish must be weighed in at Peter’s tackle during regular business hours to be eligible for judging. (Every week’s competition will end on Sunday at 4:00pm and restart on the Monday).
  18. The weekly prize amount will be in Canadian funds and will be determined by the number of participants each week. There is no set weekly prize.
